Richard Gardella, Counseltemp

RICHARD M. GARDELLA concentrates on municipal law, having served as Village Attorney for the Village of Scarsdale from 1983 to 1999 and as Corporation Counsel for the City of Rye from 1981 to 1999. He also has served as an assistant corporation counsel and later as a special counsel for the City of White Plains. A former member of the House of Delegates of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), he is presently a member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association (ABA). Mr. Gardella is a member of NYSBA’s Municipal Law Section and the ABA’s State and Local Government Law Section as well as the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility. He is a fellow of both the New York State Bar Foundation and the American Bar Association’s Bar Foundation. Mr. Gardella is a past president of the Westchester Bar Association (1997-1999), and of the Westchester County Bar Foundation (2007-2009). In addition to municipal and land use law, Mr. Gardella’s areas of practice also include appellate litigation. He currently serves as “of counsel” to the Village Attorney of the Village of Scarsdale. A former journalist, Mr. Gardella is editor-in-chief of the monthly newsletter of the Westchester County Bar Association. From 2001 to 2009, he served as a member of the 9th Judicial District Grievance Committee.
